I got some more information: The mouse-pointer (no matter if it is the arrow or a hand) is not affected by the chessboard. It seem like it is hoovering over the chessboard. Every windows that is drawn, is cut / coined by the chessboard. The funny thing is that you can move a windows underneath the chessboard. This way you can see what is drawn and what is not. When switching to tty1-6 (Ctrl + Alt + F1-6) there is no evidence of the chessboard. It seem like this bug is affecting the desktop/windows when they are drawn.
