@jean-Paul, we have made a number of sound subsystem improvements since early 10.4. Could you test again starting with Karmic Alpha? You should be able to do this with a live CD or USB. If this works, you can next try Jaunty which is the current release. Please let us know the results so we can make sure that this is fixed before Karmic is released. Thank you.
