I can't replicate the conditions you're describing, but I'm using Amarok 1.4.4 and a 1.4.5 development version. Try upgrading to 1.4.4 by following the instructions at http://kubuntu.org/announcements/amarok-1.4.4.php and see if that fixes the problem.
