Update: At first startup after installation of Ubuntu 9.10 *(Gnome, alternate i386 cd) weather preferences (from Add to panel menu) are "grayed" and cannot be set. After all, when you reboot, then there they are. System monitor can be added from the Add to Panel menu, but expect to see one *(or more if you clicked / add more than once) after reboot. So, all in all, I can't tell are these bugs, but someone should report it.
