Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: update-manager
I've frequently found update-manager displaying a set of updates, but
clicking the "Install Updates" button has no effect (it's not greyed out
either). If I hit "Check" update-manager refreshes the list, then
"Install Updates" works properly.
My suspicion is that this is linked to setting "Install security updates
without confirmation". The most recent occurrence was when Firefox had
been automatically updated, and was prompting for a Firefox restart
(which I did). But update-manager still had Firefox updates listed, and
was exhibiting the buggy behaviour above. Clicking "Check" removed the
Firefox updates from the list (as they had been applied already), and
added some new updates, which I duly installed.
This is using Jaunty / 9.04, update-manager 1:0.111.9. "Software Sources" ->
Updates is set to
YES - Important security updates
YES - Recommended updates
NO - Proposed updates
NO - Unsupported updates
YES - Check for updates - DAILY
YES - Install security updates without confirmation
I've never seen this behaviour on previous versions of Ubuntu.
