I am using the current version in karmic 2.27.3 and the bug is still present for me in the following form:
I always keep my contact list in the upper right corner. When I minimize empathy to the tray and restore it the contact list is still at the right site but it moved a bit down. When I do this a few times the contact list is in the lower right corner. This isn't really a severe bug but it's still very annoying.
