(The attached infos are for the last good kernel I have,
2.6.30-9-generic; the problem is with 2.6.30-10-generic).
Every time I try to boot 2.6.30-10-generic with "nosplash", I notice
that the framebuffer now is correctly set: until 2.6.30-9-generic, in
fact, I had very large characters and visible "noise" when in console
(probably due to a too high vertical frequency).
Now the fb is very smooth, so I gather that either the intelfb module is
probed correctly, or the vesafb one has got much better. Either way, as
soon as it's time for X.org to start, the VT is switched, I see just a
frozen cursor on the upper left corner of the screen (not blinking, the
rest of the screen is black), and the whole machine is unresponsive.
The only thing I can do is to shut down the laptop manually via the
power button.
I'll try later to boot in text-only mode on this kernel, and attach a
dmesg if it works.
