Public bug reported:

I'm trying to add the Philippine Peso sign to my keyboard layout
(Dvorak), to be enabled using the AltGr-P key. However, it does not
work, and the character will not show up on the "Show Layout". I've
tried mapping it to normal keys with no success.

I added the key to my layout by editing the
/usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/us and changing the line

  key <AD04> { [ p, P ] };

into

  key <AD04> { [ p, P, 0x20b1, 0x20a1 ] };

I also tested for other characters in the Unicode Block "Currency
Symbol", and showed that a certain range of currency signs exhibits the
same problems. The range is from the Laos Kip (u+20AD) to the Ghana
Cedi (u+20b5).

I added the 0x20a1 as a control character to show another currency sign
(Costa Rican Colon, u+20a1). The other characters in the said Unicode
Block work properly, and show up on the "Show Layout".

I'm using Ubuntu 9.09 on a Lenovo SL400.  I also tried it using a 8.04
in a VirtualBox VM, with the same results. Moreover, I've tried
changing the keyboard layout in the previous Ubuntu versions, and I have
not encountered any problems then.

I have the Dejavu fonts installed, and set my system to use them.
