Hi again guys,
I tried the options proposed by Peter Frühberger and one worked and I
have a higher sound level and the sound quality seems to be good...
the model option that worked with my dell studio 540 running jaunty is
"options snd-hda-intel probe_mask=1 model=6stack-dig
6-jack digital with SPDIF I/O"
