I have a default install Ubuntu 9.04 X64 without any user changes to the
desktop/icons/themes or anything. I do NOT move the panels around There
is a single user on the system. There are no External Monitors.

The only thing that i think is probably relevant is that i have to
change the screen resolution EVERY time i login (default 800X600,
changed to 1024X768). I am not sure if that causes the problem. I have
not seen the change in resolution affecting RELATIVE position of icons,
but possible. will check next time i login.

The position does not change during a session and will remain constant
and only changes at login. Hope this helps
