Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better.  I cannot reproduce this on either amd64 or i386 with Ubuntu
9.10.  Regardless, I suspect this is a bug with the code, based on the
notes about readdir_r in the readdir_r manpage and the need to manually
allocate the dir entry.
