the thing is that if a network connection would have been possible the system would automatically set the clock via ntp if an ntp server can be reached during bringing up the interface. so due to the MAC address not being set and in turn the interface not being able to be brought up the fallback mechanism for setting the clock was blocked additionally to the initial problem of the clock being off by ~50 years
