** Description changed:

After a fresh Gutsy install, I told the Date and Time applet to keep
synchronized with time servers. It had been an hour off, so I expected
this to set the time right, but it did not. I switched back to manual
time, set the time correctly, and then switched back to the time server
option. The new manually set time stayed.

This tells me that synchronizing with the time server in fact does
  nothing.

+ ====================
+
+ Steps to reproduce in Jaunty:
+
+ run time-admin
+ set clock back a few hours
+ close
+ re-run time-admin
+ use "Synchronise with time server" option
+ close
+
+ Notice time does not update to the correct time

** Summary changed:

- Synchronizing with a time server does not work when time difference is
greater than several hours
+ [jaunty] Synchronizing with a time server does not work when time difference
