I am testing all daily builds of feisty amd64 desktop in VMware (host is 64bit windows), and I never had this bug, installation always proceeded ok.
However, In this weeks builds, feisty added debug messages during boot. For the last 3-4 daily builds, there appear several messages regarding harddisk/cdrom access (and a lot of unnecessary cdrom accesses activity) before the splash screen. After about two screens of errors the system boots normally. My guess is that x32 and x64 hosts' scsi implementations are different (both real and virtual). On the other hand, my estimate is that if you try the latest daily builds, you will be able to boot normally (just don't use 20070127, it has other problems). -- Feisty install under VMware doesn't detect hard disk https://launchpad.net/bugs/74733 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
