I managed to get this to work by fiddling with the options.
I am not sure which one was the critical change, so I need your help.
1. I managed to get VPN (PPTP) to work over a wireless connection
2. I think the important change was to disallow 'EAP Authetication method', in
the Advance Settings.
3. You can add 'debug' to both /etc/ppp/options and /etc/ppp/options.pptp.
Then, you can see the full ppp debug in
/var/log/daemon.log
