I think I found out the problem: GRUB is in the other partition, which is a Jaunty. I'm currently using GRUB2, and I thought by doing update-grub it would update the kernel too on the other partition - but it didn't; I was still loading .28 kernel. I've edited grub.cfg and I'm going to test it now... By the way, doesn't that constitute other bug? GRUB2 not updating correctly?
