Hello Ubuntu 8.04 partially upgraded to 8.10. This broke the firewall suite. DansGuardian hung; FireHol had to be disabled, to get any connectivity to the net
I tried a full 8.10 upgrade, when this was offered via Update Mgr. but it didn't fix the issue. The firewall remained busted So I tried an upgrade to 9.04 - this screwed the display drivers ( NVIDIA ). A colleague at work experienced exactly this same video driver pb. ! I wiped the OS and reinstalled 9.04 without the NVIDIA driver - works fine. Ergo, I conclude that the upgrade process is at fault - it doesn't work as it should ! And NVIDIA drivers for 9.04 are not quite right, either .. Maybe your devs could try to reproduce my problems, proving them to be real issues ? Status in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: UBUNTU 8.04 partially upgraded which screwed up AppArmor's FireHol - in addition, DansGuardian is unable to parse the proxy which should be present in TinyProxy. I upgraded to UBUNTU 8.10 but the same issue persisted. Then I upgraded to UBUNTU 9.04 but still the same issue is present. Not knowing enough about AppArmor ( the dev team of which has now been disbanded ), I would welcome a downloadable bugfix to be able to run all 3 parts of AppArmor ( FireHol, TinyProxy, & DansGuardian ) together. The GUI provided ( Web Content Filtering ) does not have sufficient diagnostic or explanatory power for me to identify the problem and put it right. I have downloaded the latest FireHol but it is not terribly clear how to install it - does one copy it over the existing FireHol, or drag & drop, as with the Apple Mac ? Further support or even a more powerful GUI to tweak all 3 parts of AppArmor would be helpful .. Surely the settings ought to be configurable in a more user-friendly manner ? I'm a new UBUNTU user but this is whole issue somewhat obscure .. FireHol's implementation of IPTABLES is perhaps the root of the problem but I don't see how to fix this A fresh download ought to autoconfigure to the machine settings, and then ask one to apply them Leshy ( Longtme WinDoze Administrator ) relatively new Mac & Linux user -- AppArmor module FireHol not working .. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/380361 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
