Hi kafleur!
You won't believe it, but my sound system is okay now - well, so far... I
installed the alsa-driver-linuxant from this homepage:
http://www.linuxant.com/alsa-driver/. The last time I installed the generic
package with source (which didn't work out), now I installed the distribution
specific binary package. You have to scroll down the page to find these
precompiled packages. I installed it and this installation does not break my
usb-devices!!! I understand you have jaunty 9.4 on amd64, so here is the link:
http://www.linuxant.com/alsa-driver/archive/alsa-driver-linuxant-1.0.20.3/alsa-driver-linuxant_1.0.20.3_k2.6.28_13_generic_ubuntu_amd64.deb.zip
I'll install hsfmodem later, because I'm going to work now, but I'll let you
know if it works! I never noticed the new precompiled packages. I suppose they
didn't exist when I first installed the linuxant alsa-driver and the other one
worked for me...
All the best,
zasq
