I upgraded Karmic Koala 9.10 again with sudo aptitude safe-upgrade today and got:
625 packages upgraded 33 new installations, 1 removed and . 19 not upgraded 429 Mb required for archives 253Mb for re-use. Prior to upgrade you tube audio worked ok, as before. Now, just the opening ubuntu screen and login screen produce sound.
