Public bug reported:

Dear people,
let me 1st state that I tried the command: ubuntu-bug -p linux, and it
gathered some info, supposedly sent it somewhere too, but then it sent me back
to where I started off. So now I try to fill out this, but it gives me an error
message, "required input is missing", I don't know which input is referred to.
I would really like to attach the requested logfiles as seperate attachments,
but there's only one attachment possibility.

I get a lot of errors in ubuntu lately and I don't like it. I am even
sceptic if firefox will let me post the message at once.

The problem I face now is major; sound doesn't work on any device. This started
around the time when I plugged in my external usb harddrive for the first time.
I cannot tell whether there's a correlation between the two events. The system
responded a little unstable to my harddrive.
I get different errors on testing different choice of drivers. It mostly says
something like: "audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample
! gconfaudiosink: Failed to connect: Connection refused" when I push the test
button. It looks like the bullshit messages I get when I use windows; no clue
what's going on or why not worky.
It is not constant either; it would give me these messages on all devices 5
minutes ago, and now it only does it on pulse-audio (a thing I never use
because I don't trust it), while on the other devices, like alsa and oss, it
runs the test routine again but still without anything audible.

I tried to download the alsa-update script from some forum, but the
forum wouldn't let me, only gave me another error message. I believe
too, that it is not the alsa that fails on me in particular, because oss
and pulseaudio too don't work. I actually have the feeling that I have a
virus, is this at all possible?

I tried kernels 2.6.28 and 2.6.27 and both didn't work. That's why I believe it
is not the same bug as
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/360862
I work on an amd64 by the way.

Thanx, anyone who is as patient to pay attention to this.
