Thanks for the debugging work. We have a some more things to do to work on your bug:
A) For all the following debugging use Karmic Koala only (liveCD or development installation). The upstream developers are currently working on that version of GPM, and it is the best way we can get the bug fixed in Ubuntu. There is little chance of getting this bug fixed in Jaunty, so we should concentrate on Karmic (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates) B) when in Karmic type into the terminal: "apport-collect 393074" this will add more information to this report C) 1) run the command: dbus-monitor --session "type='signal',interface='org.freedesktop.PowerManagement'" 2) suspend and close the lid 3) post the output from dbus-monitor D) 1) type the following command into terminal: "lshal -m > lshal.log.txt" 2) suspend and close the lid 3) attach lshal.log.txt to the bug report.
