Dear Philip, Thanks for your follow-up email. I now suspect that Dell support misled me. I reloaded the original version of Ubuntu, which had worked perfectly, The problem still persisted. After three weeks with Dell, the laptop has come back with a new wi-fi card and antennae, but still not working!
I have every confidence in Ubuntu but zero faith in Dell. Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I use Ubuntu 8.4 (Hardy Heron) Yesterday I lost my WiFi connection and was unable to restore. I rang Dell Support an hour ago and they said there was a problem in WiFi connections caused by an Ubuntu upgrade. I did download some upgrades yesterday shortly before I noticed the problem. Are Dell correct? If so, is a solution on the way?
