This is a dual-boot laptop Presario v2000 with Windows XP and Ubuntu. The drive works in Windows XP and is listed as two different drives. DVD-RW (Drive D:) and DVD-ROM (Drive H:) thus may be the source of the conflict reported in dmesg.
