I'm using Dell Vostro A860 and I think I have a similar issue.
When I'm not using any audio everything is fine, and when I play something,
let's say with mplayer sth -ao pulse, I get static noise along with the other
audio. The volume of the static noise is constant and does not seem to be
affected by the audio's volume. When I stop playing the file, the static stays
on for about 15-20 seconds and then is muted.
When using the laptop speaker it's not very annoying, but when I plug my
phones, my ears just bleed.
I recently upgraded from 9.04 to 9.10 (9.04 was fine).
I've attached some info.
Cheers,
Ivo
