Public bug reported: Binary package hint: udev
In Karmic, after the upgrade to the 2.6.31-2-generic kernel, based on 2.6.31-rc2, proper symlinks for CD devices are apparently not created. This causes most CD burning applications, like k3b and Brasero to fail, saying that there is no CD burner attached. I did some snooping around, and found that the /dev/cdrom, /dev/cdrw, /dev/dvd, and /dev/dvdrw symlinks are not created when the new kernel is used. However, the /dev/scd0 link is still there, and the drive works fine for reading data. ** Affects: udev (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [karmic] Udev does not create symlinks for CD/DVD burners with kernel 2.6.31-rc2 or later https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/397179 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
