@Manoj (2009-07-09): I believe this bug is still present in 2.6.28-13.44, the latest released kernel. Is there any reason to expect it is fixed in 2.6.28-14.46 (in jaunty proposed)? Do you have a specific patch in mind?
A colleague had these symptoms on a Dell E6500 (has ICH10 and Nvidia graphics). The problem is not as pervasive as that of some of the original reporters, but there has been significant filesystem corruption every few days.
