Strange, I know that karmic is the test distribution right now but I think that it's a little weird that something as crucial (at least for what I know of a system base debian) dpkg is not taking with huge priorities by the devel team. In reality the real question is do you think that any devel are looking at launchpad? It really seems to be useless.
