Nope, neither the jaunty-updates
(http://launchpadlibrarian.net/26019371/udev_141-1_141-1.1.diff.gz) nor
the jaunty-proposed
(http://launchpadlibrarian.net/26707848/udev_141-1.1_141-1.2.diff.gz)
update touch the preinst.
The affected script code is
*)
echo "$0 called with unknown argument \`$1'" 1>&2
(which didn't change since jaunty, current karmic still has this).
I guess it stumbles over the \' somehow, but it does seem to work with
dash and bash. Erin, can you please give us the output of
ls -l /bin/sh
?
However, this code is only called if $1 is not install|upgrade|abort-
upgrade. Which is pretty curious, since these are the only defined
possibilities according to the Debian Policy (http://www.debian.org/doc
/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html#s-mscriptsinstact).
