Jim,

Try disabling the bluetooth drivers, in /etc/default/bluetooth and in
/etc/init.d/bluetooth
Set these values in both files, "why they are in both files I have no idea?",
an oversight perhaps.
HID2HCI_ENABLED=0
HID2HCI_UNDO=0

I had to do this to get my Logitech cordless KB and Mousepad to work,
your dmesg output lists these devices as being present.

The logitech receiver is a usb to bluetooth converter, the OS only sees
it as a USB device, but still tries to load all of the other bluetooth
devices and locks up the KB and mousepad.
