Public bug reported: Binary package hint: usplash
I upgraded 8.10 -> 9.04 today. The important stuff is working, but I'm seeing an annoying dialog box early in bootup, before the login window appears. The dialog complains that it failed to open /usr/share/gdm/themes/HumanCircle/../Human/ubuntu.png. Indeed there is no such file. I see "splash" in my grub menu.lst, but no such pathname, so I'm not sure where that path is set. More importantly for me, I'd really like the image. My screen is 1280x800 if it matters. You might want to fix the installer, so it makes sure there's a suitable splash screen. I'm also wondering if it's significant that the instructions on the bug page where I'm typing this say to get 1) sudo lspci -vnvn > lspci-vnvn.log but the instructions on the DebuggingUsplash page say to get The file created by this command in a terminal : sudo lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.txt Is it "vnvn" or "vvnn"? You're getting both. ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04 MachineType: Dell Inc.
