I just checked in 9.04 and the bug still exists. I'm including a screen shot so 
you can see exactly what is happening.
The first sheet is Shalom1 (in Hebrew of course). The Shalom is not appearing.
The second sheet is Shalom2 and that appears correctly.
The 3rd sheet is English characters, so it appears correctly.

If I may make a guess, I think it is a font problem. In the old version the 
font for grayed characters displayed
Hebrew correctly. Then someone decided on an improved font for grayed 
characters. It works fine in Windows
but the Ubuntu equivalent font lacks Hebrew support. (This is my best guess 
anyway....)
