My request is still on stand-by (from the last time I reported). I may
open a new "incident" with them, pointing out they left the other one
unanswered. This is very frustrating.

In the meantime, can you flash the mobo in Linux? There is a new BIOS
for my mobo. ASUS mobos typically can be flashed inserting a fat16
pendrive with the new firmware, and holding a special key combination at
reboot. Maybe we should open an Ubuntuforums thread to discuss this sort
of thing.
