Hi, I would like to confirm this bug.
My hardware configuration is:

Motherboard: Asus P4V8X-X
CPU: Celeron 2.4GHz
RAM: 768MB PC3200
Bios version: 02.54
Bios manufacturer: American Megatrends
Bios configuration:
- USB 1.1 ports => 8 ports
- UBS 2.0 ports => enabled
- USB legacy support => auto
- USB 2.0 => HiSpeed (480Mbps)
MPS Revision: 1.4
OnBoard LAN: enabled
OnBoard Boot Rom: disabled
OnBoard AC'97 audio: disabled
OnBoard SATA Rom: disabled
ACPI: Yes
ACPI APIC: Enabled
API: Disabled

Ubuntu 9.04, Stock kernel 2.6.24-14

Booting in recovery mode, the system hangs after having recognized power on,
stanby, ecc. acpi buttons.
If I disable ACPI in BIOS; or add the kernel parameter acpi=off, then the
system boot normally.
