Now I have run hp-plugin -i and downloaded the firmware form HP. At the end of the installation the printer made some sounds, but when I print a page nothing happens.
I ran the printer troubleshooter again and this time a test page was actually printed, only it was printed half size (as when you print "2up" 90 degrees rotated).
