Public bug reported:
Ubuntu stalls while trying to boot both from the live cd or from a fresh
installation. Eventually verbose mode appears with the following text
describing the halted process:
"starting bluetooth...
[406.952046] INFO: task hid2hci:4175 blocked for more than 120 seconds
[406.952115] "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this
message"
The halt prevents the install process from beginning as it occurs when
loading up the system
This is a problem with the latest release (Jaunty) as I currently have
8.10 installed and running OK. The same problem occurs whether upgrading
within Ubuntu, running from LiveCD or installing 9.04 afresh. It is
also applicable to Linux Mint 7 (for example) which I assume is based on
Ubuntu 9.04.
The computer I am installing on does not have a bluetooth device. It is
a Shuttle XPC SN45G v3.0. I have not ever flashed/updated the BIOS from
stock. Please let me know what other information might be needed and I
will post it.
