I had a similar problem, though the symptoms were somewhat different. I discovered that Exaile wouldn't play some files I'd ripped from CDs. It seemed to do everything normally such as displaying song length and metadata. When trying to play the file, no sound would come out and the time would remain at 0:00 indefinitely. I would have to manually change songs to get Exaile to continue playing anything.
I noticed that the problem files were FLAC, so I thought that maybe it was FLAC encoding problem or a Gstreamer decoding problem, but many other players (including Gstreamer ones like Totem) had no trouble playing them. Finally I noticed that the file names contained "#" (ASCII 35). It seems there was something Exaile didn't like about that character. What made it difficult to diagnose was that Exaile never indicated any kind of error and had no trouble extracting metadata from the files, but simply wouldn't play them. I just installed Exaile 0.2.99.3 and it does not seem to have this bug, though it seems to be lacking important features like the ability to read my old settings and database. -- Exaile cannot play songs that are housed in folders that have [] square brackets in the name! https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/316074 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
