On my EEE Pc 1000H with Kubuntu Karmic Alpha, the fan speed is constantly over
1100 RPM and the cpu temperature around 50°C. Installing some special software
(EEE Control) the cpu temperature range remains the same and the fan speed
drops to 600 - 800 RPM. I think that result must be achieved even by the
"standard" kubuntu installation because benefits are many:
* energy waste elimination
* prolonged battery life
* reduced unnecessary noise
