Public bug reported:

Changing port from default (25) to others didn't work; according to SEND
MESSAGE error, "message failed because connecting to smtpauth.earthlink.net
failed. Server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Verify your
SMTP setting is correct and try agaiin or contact network administrator." I am
not connected to a computer network. Furthermore, there is no problem
connecting to Yahoo. Have I designated the wrong port? Some instructions said
my ISP was possibly blocking the default port and suggested changes which were
made to no avail.
After substantial security problems, I am especially eager to use open
source mail applications believing they afford more privacy. To that end I have
tried to use Thunderbird, Gmail, Balsa and Evolution. None of them allow me to
send mail, only receive it. If I really want to send Email, I'm forced to go
back to Yahoo!
Help? I know my computer knowledge is sadly inadequate but I'm trying.

Bug report wants more detail.....After getting the failure message quoted
above I got a new one last night. Said there was a broken pipe. No more than
that. I am using Edgy Eft software, 6.10, I believe.
