I have just experienced the same pain. In preparing to travel to a location where the only connection type that I can expect is dialup (OK, do I really need to be connected, no, but to say that I have a phone line and a place to dial in and Ubuntu will not allow me to be connected sounds a bit wrong)
Gnome-ppp is now configured and working and shows that I have a connection, but network manager doesn't know about it and Firefox thinks there is no internet connection available. Looks like I will need to take along my old (did I say old) Windows XP laptop rather than my shiny new (did I say new) Ubuntu Jaunty laptop. Oh the pain. Technical details ifconfig shows the ppp0 connection Network Monitor 2.26.0 sees the ppp0 connection NetworkManager Applet 0.7.0.100 does not see it. grrrrrr!!!!! -- network manager doesn't support dial up modems https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/355553 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
