Another thing worth trying is echo "blacklist ehci_hcd" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-ehci sudo update-initramfs -u
then reboot, and try again. This will use the slower USB 1.1 drivers. Does this work? After this, please clean up again with sudo rm /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-ehci sudo update-initramfs -u and reboot.
