Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: network-manager
The three skypephone S2 made by Amoi does not register as a modem under
network manager.
The S2 does support USB modem, and comes with a windows driver. The ini
file for the windows driver has a proprietary CDC modem driver is
mentioned. I can attach this if copyright permits. It includes init
strings etc.
dmesg shows detection of a USB CD Rom drive from the phone, but does not
show detection of any serial ports unless I run modprobe usbserial
vendor=0x1614 product=0x0407. If I do this, it appears four serial ports
are detected. Output of dmesg included, showing detection of ports after
the modprobe command.
Expected behaviour: connect phone, network manager pops up to show
config options, or gives option to connect via mobile wireless
(generally works very well for much hardware! - Thanks!)
Actual behaviour: no response to connecting phone. Kernel driver fails
to load for CDC or usbserial modem interface.
Phone USB ID: Vendor=1614 Device=0407
Tested on 9.10 Alpha 3. Same as 9.04.
