@John -- I have a Dell Mini 10v here and it seems to work as expected.
The console is detected as '128x37' and when i fire up VI on VT-1 the
command line is on the bottom of the screen as expected.
It sounds very much like this has been fixed by a later kernel. Could
you try the latest karmic kernel currently 2.6.31-4.21 and let us know
if this is still occuring. Thanks.
