Thanks for your efforts. The change did not correct my problem. Thinking back, the speakers worked when I initially upgraded to 8.1 but somewhere amist the updates, they failed. Maybe when 9.1 comes out it will be resolved. I noticed in following your steps that wifi and ethernet connections were not enabled for my name either and yet they work fine. I just left those settings alone and there must be an overriding setting that gives me those privileges when logging in. Have a good Saturday.
