Please could you include the output from the following:
$ grep . /var/lib/acpi-support/*-*
Does opening/closing the laptop lid work, does pressing the VGA-switch
(internal/external eg. Fn-F7 or similar) have any effect?
Does dropping to the console (Ctrl-Alt-F1) and doing either of the above
work?
