'i915resolution' is currently a gross kludge to make up for a defective
video BIOS.  The Intel video driver is currently undergoing updates to
be able to program the video modes directly without help of the BIOS
(broken, kludged or otherwise).

If you would like to, you can test the new code by installing the:

  'xserver-xorg-video-i810-modesetting'

driver-package instead.

There isn't much we can actually do to sort this out in the mean time;
'i915resolution' is pretty much a stepping stone to bridge the gap
