Konversation uses KAddressBook for contact integration, and currently
the KDE PIM infrastructure has several limitations, one of which being
that KAddressbook will start up KMail if you have a groupware service
configured, since KMail stores the data that KAddressbook wants. This
video covers this (and even mentions the Konversation problem!) maybe
about 10 minutes in if you're interested in the exacts:
