Same problem.

It happens when i use my mobile broadband 3G in Mexico (CDU-680).
I do not start my connection using the network manager (I can't -I do
not why) but command line.
This is the way i connect to the 3G service:

Pidgin doesn't autoconnect when on ppp network.
