Awe, oh well. I'm not sure I am convinced it is hardware specific. People with nvidia, ati, and intel drivers have all reported it in the comments.
I just did a quick test because it used to happen on my machine but doesn't anymore. However, it's one of the first things my wife ran into on the machine I recently built her. SpirographX seems to correctly respond to mouse movement. The screensaver Pacman does not.
