Public bug reported: I am running Karmic, though the problem I am reporting has been around for a while in Ubuntu. I have a Dell Inspiron 1721 laptop (with ATI Radeon 1200), and usplash has not worked out of the box for the past 4-5 releases. I would always get a blank screen, so I resorted to disabling the splash screen and removing the quiet option (both are recorded in the grub configuration). Yesterday, I decided to give this problem a try. I managed to get usplash working by explicitly listing a mode (vga=xxx) as one of my kernel options. However, this does not work as smoothly as one would like it to. Pressing Crtl+Alt+Fi (i=1..6) results in a blank screen. I am currently using the open source ati driver.

There is however no listed solution. ** Affects: usplash (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Usplash causes black getty screens https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/405971 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
