@GertjanVD: I concur with your findings. I've reworked your patch a little and uploaded some test kernels with a fix in at:
http://people.canonical.com/~cking/sru-357724 Can you install the appropriate kernel and give this a test. If this fixes the problem I will try and get the patch incorporated as a SRU fix.
